Cloud Applications – SaaS (Software as a Service) Essentially, the idea is that Application functionality is served via the internet and this application typically serves the needs.
Cloud Platforms – PaaS (Platform as a Service). Typically a development language or framework is contained within this environment. What this means is that users consume the hosted framework.
Cloud Infrastructure – IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). At the lowest layer of the Cloud Pyramid, infrastructure is delivered and consumed on-demand utilizing some sort of paravirtualization and/or hardware integration. This layer includes servers, networks and other hardware appliances
